Our Christmas Hamper Appeal buys food
for one of the poorest communities in Romania
The money we raise is sent to the Romanian charity Calea Bucuriei (Way of Joy).
Valentin Chirica buys food at a Cash & Carry and groups of volunteers deliver it to those in real need.
Imagine the joy this brings to families who, in freezing temperatures, live in one room of a concrete block with no water or heating and those who live in wooden shacks.
Poorly educated they are unable to find permanent employment and consider themselves fortunate to get the occasional day’s labouring work. Many of them are sick caused by extreme poverty.
These parcels mean so much to the families and buying food in Romania helps their economy.
Our 2010 Christmas Appeal raised £2,295.53
We were able to add money from other fund-raising efforts that took place during 2010 and we sent a total of £3,200.
